The product of a fairly new collaboration between long-time friends, Nick Klein & Phil Maier, what we have here are four tasty slivers of blissed out mood fuel, deep and dense and rife with lush candor. Glued together with the familiar sizzling tape hiss, there’s a cornucopia of flavor here. From the playful, tentative rhythms of the opening track to its more solemn remix, courtesy of Glochids, closing things out, there’s a lot of ground covered here. Sandwiched between these more functional tracks is the particularly immersive Qal Alluvium, an ambient number as sedate and palatial as they come. One foot in the celestial, one in the earthly, this is as much a work to meditate to as it is to bob and stomp to, and it is more magnificent for it.
